PNGinc introduced Scan-Ahead Navigator™ in January 1989 as a powerful anti-collision marine navigation system designed to prevent navigation-related groundings. Built upon our proprietary ACCIS™ (anti-collision chart information system) technology, this intelligent system was modified for land use and by 1994 it was enhanced for use in our Phoenix InterSceptor UAV program.
Scan-Ahead Navigator™ is still the most advanced anti-collision navigation system on the planet. While underway, the computer “sees” charted obstructions and orders evasive action in the event of imminent collision.
Hazards in the marine area include:
- depths
- submerged rocks
- shoals
- land masses
- wrecks
Color-encoded electronic charts are created with PNGinc’s Scan-Ahead Map Generator™.
Scan-Ahead Navigator™ is also the basic building block for a next-generation command and control ground station necessary for implementation of SATS (small aircraft transportation system).
As a failsafe navigation system for future air commuters, the program is designed with intelligent algorithms to keep aircraft on a predetermined course – within very tight corridors.
