Thanks to those who ordered our Tesla turbine plans CD! We welcome your comments & suggestions! |
More about Open House 2006Makes you wonder...September 2006 Let me tell you about the time one of the major auto companies sent envoys to our covert lab to see one of our Tesla turbines in action... Turns out their world-class powertrain group had never even heard of Tesla's turbine, and only one bright young lad had ever stumbled across pulse detonation combustion! (Question: How long has it been since Nikola Tesla patented and promoted his "powerhouse in a hat"??? - Answer: Since around 1906!) We spent considerable time expounding on theory, history and 21st century powertrain concepts, but in the end it boiled down to a conflict of cultures. On the one hand, 20th century engineers speak in terms of SFC's and drag their feet at looking outside the corporate box. Their vision for the future centers around the piston engine as the prime mover until customers tell them otherwise. On the other hand, Ken & I (and presumably, many of our Club members) will be satisfied with nothing less than the replacement of polluting, piston ICE's across the whole spectrum of motive power. High-efficiency pulse detonation disk turbines are the future for land, sea & air vehicles. - And we intend to put the polluters out of business unless they join the Revolution. Knowing how little known this Engine of the 21st Century is makes our Experimenter's Tesla Turbine project CD even more significant. Obviously, the experts at the auto companies haven't run across the subject in their college curriculums. - There is no easier way to learn about Tesla turbines than to study actual construction drawings, photos and even 3D CAD files, and then go out & build one to experiment with!
