Thai farm needs Tesla

01/28/08

I am soon to retire. My income will be less than optimum. However, I do have a very small (approximately 35 acres) farm in Thailand, and I intend to find methods of sustainable generation of electricity. Although reasonably intelligent and somewhat mechanically inclined, I do not believe I can accomplish my goals without discourse with members of ptbc.

FH010018a.jpg (602596 bytes)I will build and maintain a generator for the home I will construct on my farm. The home will be on stilts, where the 1st floor will be 10 feet above ground. There will be another floor atop that. We will have an Internet cafe' on the 1st floor with about 10 CPUs and monitors linked by satellite to the www. Our residence will be the top floor.

The village is small and poor. My fervent hope is I can help these wonderful people elevate their standard of living by providing low-cost Internet access, and "homegrown", community-based, energy production and some type of good/service we could export. Tourism comes to mind, providing inexpensive living arrangements and interesting times as people pass on their way somewhere else.

I will begin actual construction of the home/cafe' 2 years hence, and will need advice, ideas, suggestions in several areas. Energy generation, Internet access, construction techniques, sustenance farming, et al. We also will build several very small 2-person sleeping huts as a way station for budget-minded travelers such as backpacking students. This stopover would offer hot food, hot water, swimming, laundry, Internet access, a standing invitation to whatever current cultural event and transportation to and from the next town.

Am I simply out of my mind? I thank you all for even considering my situation, let alone any discussion. Incidentally, this program I first envisioned 40 years ago. I have actually been putting small pieces of it together for 5 years now. And 2 years from now I will begin construction on my home in Thailand. So I must perfect my Tesla Turbine generator. And yes, as soon as I am able to accommodate visitors, you are welcome to pull up a sleeping pallet. -- Jonathan Hurley - Dunedin, FL

Hybrid Bike Project

Tue, 25 Mar 2008

Hey guys....
Sounds like things are moving right along out there! With gas bound to be 4.00 a gallon this summer you're right on time with your HEV for sure.

I'm finally going to start my own extremely low tech electric vehicle project.  a pedal/electric bicycle. frankenstiening together an old mountain bike and all the electric stuff off a minn Kota trolling motor.

I figure if it can push around a bunch of fat guys in a boat with headwinds and all their stuff.... it can help me turn the bicycle wheel fairly easily.

to start with I'm just going to put the battery on a golf bag dolley and pull it along like a trailer.

at any rate... I'll take pictures and if it works.....I'll send them to you guys. -- Remi Gits (One of our first PTBC members) - Montana
