Ken & I had just weathered a storm in the infamous
Bermuda Triangle when the steering went out on the merchant ship we were
crewing on. As Ken faced the challenge of repairing his first
navigation system at sea, a skinny Filipino stood at the helm,
steering the vessel manually. - The experience drove home to me the importance of
reliable guidance systems.
The world at this time is without strong leadership in a sea of
radical change. Indecision in high places is diluting R&D efforts
into diverse technological areas at a time when we should be tightly
focused on realistic solutions to global problems.
PNGinc has set a
course toward a sustainable future, and we're conquering new territory
in our labs. Over the years, I have witnessed breakthroughs in
ultra-clean combustion cycles, participated in field tests of our
anti-collision navigation system, and introduced visitors to the
excitement of flying our space-age Phoenix Jet on the simulator.
As I
focus my daily activities on promoting the Engine of the 21st Century in
new power & transportation markets, I'm reminded of a bit of advice
handed down by my Dad. As I worked toward my Distinguished Expert award
at the local rifle/pistol club, he often repeated the phrase,
"Squeeze, don't jerk."
Simple advice about focusing on the
bulls-eye - it worked.
