Release Date: May 26, 2005 After 100 Years, Tesla Turbines Back in Production!PNGinc begins manufacturing "Engine of the 21st Century" Munising, MI – This month Michigan-based Phoenix Navigation & Guidance Inc. became the first company in a century to manufacture Tesla turbine components. Their initial product is a do-it-yourself assembly kit for the most important component of the turbine -- the hot rotor/disk pack -- with more components to follow. The 4.5-inch fractional horsepower hot rotor kits are available through the company's web site at www.phoenixnavigation.com/ptbc/hotrotors.htm. The last time Nikola Tesla's bladeless turbine was produced was in the early part of the 20th century. At that time, the famous inventor was working directly with the Pyle National Company to produce 1kW generators (based on his turbine technology) for locomotive headlamps. After some initial public excitement over his "10 horsepower per pound" turbine, Tesla encountered industry resistance to change from their less efficient piston engines. These were the days of abundant fossil fuels, when the world paid little heed to air pollution or depleting oil reserves. Today PNGinc is pulling out the stops in a move designed to overthrow such outdated thinking. "The world must shift from its energy depleting state to that of an abundance of energy, much of it derived from the free source in the sun," says CEO Ken Rieli. "It's time to turn to the only engine & the only source of energy able to meet man's needs in the 21st century." Small disk turbines combined with solar energy fit the company's philosophy of empowering all the people of the world to become energy producers. Their manufacturing efforts will provide the tools required for development of widespread distributed power generation.
