These two key components (turbine & combustor) are absolutely necessary in dealing with the runaway pollution problem across the globe since the cost of technology, as well as efficient, near-zero emissions, are essential in addressing the problem. The Kinetic Energy Drive™ is being developed as a general replacement for all piston and many of the traditional turbine uses.
Widespread global use of the Kinetic Energy Drive™ will immediately reduce emissions to targets proposed in the Kyoto agreement. As we move from fossil fuels to growable renewables, this new technology will reduce the negative effects of engine use to zero. Construction of the TechnologyThe Kinetic Energy Drive™ is basically a boundary layer disk type turbine with improved geometry designed & developed by PNGinc. The disk pack is an assembly of laser cut or stamped steel plates forming a heavy flywheel. The energetic gas (steam or gases of combustion) enters the periphery of the flywheel rotor and energizes the rotor into motion, so the turbine disk pack acts as both engine & flywheel -- thus the kinetic energy being a kinetic energy or flywheel energy storage device. The output of this flywheel engine is coupled to a hydrostatic pump motor assembly, providing an infinitely variable torque and shaft rotational speed to the integral differential. The engine hydrostatic drive & differential are ultimately constructed as a single unit in various sizes & horsepower ratings so it can be easily dropped into any class of vehicle -- from the smallest economy cars to the largest earth-moving equipment. The high velocity gas section is constructed as a separate unit for ultra-clean burn situations using existing fossil fuels & waste solvents as a fuel. We utilize our ultra-clean burner technology to produce steam from water or another suitable fluid in a closed loop recovery system. As we move toward renewable fuels, and economy or efficiency become more important than the ultra-clean burning aspects, direct combustion is employed as the energetic gas using our proprietary pulse combustion techniques. ConclusionSince other technologies such as fuel cells are realistically several decades away from widespread global use (economically speaking), our KE Drive™ really is the only viable, immediately applicable technology that can deliver all the necessary benefits -- including more power, less pollution & lower cost -- which are absolutely necessary for a successful world class product.
