Coal-fired Power Production Advantage using the Phoenix Ultra-clean Combustor

Boosting efficiency through pyrocatalytic gasification

Today most of the world's electrical power is still being produced by older, poorly designed and poorly operating coal-fired boilers. With the resurgent battle cry of "Damn the environment, full steam ahead!" (moronically chanted by the greed conservatives worldwide) raw, unrefined coal will continue to belch its cancer-causing payload out of the uncontrolled smokestacks of industry.

Most of these plants continue to use the ancient shovel-and-burn system, with little regard to peak burn efficiencies or toxic contamination. This results in a dramatic general decline in world health as billions of tons of gases, carbon particles and toxic metals -- including uranium -- annually assault the global ecosystem.

Fluid Bed Combustion

In some parts of the world, including China, newer construction of power plants incorporate fluid bed combustion. Fluid bed combustors are a great improvement on static bed systems. Instead of simply shoveling and burning coal, fluid bed systems use pressurized air injected from below to suspend the coal in a vertical column of air and mix it with an activated high-temperature mineral like lime, as the rolling mass burns.

The activated lime absorbs toxins such as sulphur oxides, before they can reach the stack. Some of the drawbacks to this system include:

bulletperiodic downtime to recharge the active medium
bulleterosion of the combustion chamber
bulletcarbon particles migrating out of the stack

Technical Solutions

The PNGinc approach is to use our proprietary ultra-clean burn technology to boost the efficiency of combustion, through pyrocatalytic gasification of coal, air and water.

This technique effectively eliminates all carbon particles before they reach the stack. Activated lime may also be used to absorb sulphur oxides, and heavy metal oxides will tend to collect in the pyrocatalytic reactor rather than find their way to the stack.

PNGinc is offering consulting and system development expertise to qualified parties interested in this technology. For serious inquiries, contact PNGinc's CEO Ken Rieli.
