Phoenix Jet - now in first prototype

 

PNGinc is prototyping a test model of the Phoenix Jet, an extremely high performance single- or tandem-seat personal jet. 

Our first two models are aimed at the Light Sport and Private Pilot class markets at under $100,000. We are projecting an initial price tag of around $400-500,000 for production units of the larger air commuter --much less than Eclipse's $1.3 million very light jet.

The real star of the show is the Phoenix PDT (pulsed detonation turbine) Turboprop/fan . Merging PNGinc's proprietary explosive detonation combustion cycle with our improved disk turbine technology yields a quiet, low-cost turbine design that uses over 99% of the chemical energy in fuel.

The Freedom Lifestyle

We are looking beyond the air taxi market to a future where families live outside the city in remote communities where quality of life comes first. Community members will fly their personal jets from indigenous runways to small airport hubs just outside each city, then ride by high speed autonomous railcars to work. 

Only a safe, lower-cost jet will fulfill this vision -- something even leading aircraft companies can't deliver.

ONLY PNGinc has an ultra-stable aircraft planform that flies itself! 

Testing through Simulation

Safety is inherent in our unique planform design. Before we commit to any development project, we spend countless hours of computer simulation testing to make sure we get every design aspect right. During flight tests, we look very hard at:

  1. Stall recovery
  2. Ease of landing
  3. Cruise stability
  4. Climb rate
  5. "Crash dive" stability

Our standards are very high.  When we put the latest U.S. military X-planes through their paces on our simulator, we discovered why they are unstable under certain conditions. -- They didn't pass our tests.

The Phoenix Jet planform that we selected had to undergo hundreds of modifications and repeated flight simulations before we gave this design a GO. (We even sat our grandkids behind the controls in order to judge its ease of use and performance characteristics.)

Space-age Materials... and More

To significantly cut costs -- while maintaining safety, reliability & high performance -- we use a carefully planned combination of building materials which includes wood/cellulose products, metal and composites.

Applications:

Private pilot - Safe, alternative fuel, personal commuter jet for people living in remote communities. 

LSA - Ultra-safe planform for new Light Sport pilots

12 seat Commuter Jet - spacious central compartment for stress-free commuting; the space-age replacement for the aging fleet of flying "cattle cars" now in service.
